Fit two 18650 batteries, screw on a sub ohm tank, pick Smart Mode and fire. The Legend 5 can go to 200W, but the best vape usually lives well below that, inside your coil's printed range.
The short version
- The box holds the mod and a manual only: batteries and tank are sold separately.
- It needs two 18650 cells; Geekvape suggests charging them in an external charger.
- Five modes: Smart, Normal, Eco, Temperature Control and Custom, from 5 to 200W.
- Pair it with a 510 sub ohm tank such as the Geekvape Z Subohm Tank 5.
What is in the box, and what you need to add
The Geekvape Aegis Legend 5 box mod comes with the mod and a user manual. That is all. To vape, you need two 18650 batteries, a 510 tank and e-liquid.
The mod offers a 5 to 200W output and a durable body that is shock resistant, dustproof and waterproof, in true Aegis fashion. It weighs 175g without batteries.
Pick up a matched pair from the 18650 battery range. If you want everything at once, Geekvape also sells a Legend 5 kit that includes the Z Subohm Tank 5.
Fitting batteries safely
Open the battery door and insert two 18650 cells, matching the + and - markings inside the mod. Use two cells of the same make and model, bought together and always used together, so they charge and discharge evenly.
Check the plastic wraps before every fit. A torn wrap can short against the metal battery bay, so a damaged cell should be rewrapped or replaced, not used.
Geekvape's listing says to recharge by removing the batteries and using an external battery charger. Carry spare cells in a proper case, never loose in a pocket with keys or coins.
The five AS 4.0 modes
The AS 4.0 chipset gives you five power modes. Smart Mode picks the best wattage for your coil automatically. Normal Mode provides a balanced vape. Eco Mode helps extend battery life. Temperature Control lets you choose the temperature of your vape. Custom Mode lets you choose your own output from the full 5 to 200W range.
New to mods? Start in Smart Mode. Once you know what you like, move to Custom and set a wattage inside your coil's range.
The display shows your power mode and battery level, and the slider on the side locks the mod to prevent accidental firing.
Pairing a tank and choosing coils
The 510 pin means the Legend 5 fits most tanks on the market. The natural match is the Geekvape Z Subohm Tank 5, which ships with a 0.4 ohm Z XM coil (50 to 60W) and a 0.2 ohm Z XM coil (70 to 80W).
The Legend 5 is also listed as compatible with Geekvape Z coils, including 0.15 ohm at 80 to 90W and 0.25 ohm at 45 to 57W. Every coil prints its range, and staying inside it is the single best way to avoid burnt hits.
You will notice none of those coils needs anywhere near 200W. The headroom is there for rebuildables and very low resistance coils, not as a target.

E-liquid and nicotine for DTL
Z coils are built for DTL vaping, and Geekvape recommends e-liquid with at least 70% VG. Thick, cloudy liquid suits the big wicks in sub ohm mesh coils and helps prevent leaking.
Most people use a shortfill topped up with a nic shot, which lands at around 3mg in a 60ml bottle. The shop's sub ohm advice is to stay at 6mg or below. Nicotine is addictive, and at 60W or more, each puff carries a lot of it.
Leave nic salts and 50/50 liquids for your pod kit. In a Z coil at high power they leak, spit and hit far too hard.
Final strength 3.0mg in 60ml
Three common problems and who it suits
- Will not fire: the lock slider is on, or a battery is in the wrong way round. Check both.
- Burnt hits: the wattage is above the coil's range or the coil was not primed. Use Smart Mode or set a wattage inside the printed range.
- Short battery life: high wattage drains cells fast. Use Eco Mode or lower the power, and carry a charged spare pair.
The Legend 5 suits DTL vapers who want a tough, powerful dual-battery mod. If you want a lighter single-battery option, see the Voopoo Drag 5, or the built-in battery Eleaf iStick T80.
