How to use the Aspire Zelos 3: modes, coils and the Nautilus 3 tank

3 min readUpdated 3 Oct 2026By the Spectrum Vaping team

Slide open the Nautilus 3, fill it, set a wattage and fire. The Zelos 3 can be as simple as that, or you can dig into temperature control and custom power curves when you are ready.

The short version

  • Kit includes the Zelos 3 mod, Nautilus 3 tank and two coils: 1.8 ohm BVC and 0.7 ohm 2S mesh.
  • Modes: Variable Wattage, Temperature Control, Bypass and Customisable Power Settings.
  • Use 50% VG or high PG with the 1.8 ohm coil, 70% VG or higher with the 0.7 ohm mesh.
  • 3200mAh battery and a 1 to 80W output range.

What is in the box

The Aspire Zelos 3 starter kit contains the Zelos 3 mod (3200mAh), the Nautilus 3 tank (2ml), a Nautilus BVC 1.8 ohm coil, a Nautilus 2S mesh 0.7 ohm coil, a Type-C cable, a spare drip tip and a user manual.

The mod has an adjustable range of 1 to 80W, a 0.96 inch colour screen showing wattage, temperature and a puff counter, and Aspire's smart ASP chipset. It weighs 217g.

Built-in protections cover overheating, vaping overtime, low voltage, overcharge, overdischarge and short circuits, so it is forgiving while you learn.

Filling the Nautilus 3 and fitting coils

The Nautilus 3 has a slide-open top-filling system that reduces the chance of leaks. Slide the top open, fill to just below the top and slide it closed.

Coils use a press-fit installation, and the tank has an e-liquid shutoff valve, which together make coil changes clean. Prime a new coil with a few drops onto the cotton and let it soak for five minutes after filling.

The bottom adjustable airflow lets you choose a tighter or looser inhale. Start nearly closed with the 1.8 ohm coil for MTL; open it for the 0.7 ohm mesh.

The output modes explained

Variable Wattage is the everyday mode: pick a wattage that suits your coil. Temperature Control lets you set a maximum temperature and experiment with flavour without the coil running too hot. Bypass delivers maximum available power for a hard-hitting vape.

Customisable Power Settings let you fine-tune the heat ramp-up, the power curve, selecting a time from 1 to 15 seconds.

If you are new, stay in Variable Wattage and use the coil's printed range. The Nautilus coil listing rates the 1.8 ohm BVC at 10 to 14W and the 0.7 ohm mesh at 20 to 25W.

Coils and e-liquid

The kit is compatible with the full range of Aspire Nautilus coils, from 1.8 ohm MTL to 0.3 ohm RDTL.

With the included 1.8 ohm BVC coil, Aspire recommends a 50% VG or high PG e-liquid, such as a nic salt or 50/50 freebase. With the 0.7 ohm 2S mesh, use 70% or higher VG, like a shortfill at a low strength.

Nicotine is addictive, and the 0.7 ohm mesh makes much more vapour per puff, so drop your strength when you swap coils. The Nautilus 3 tank is also sold on its own if you want a spare.

Three common problems and battery tips

  • Burnt hit after fitting the 0.7 ohm coil: the coil was not primed, or the wattage sits outside its 20 to 25W rating. Prime it, then set a wattage inside that range.
  • Leaking with the 0.7 ohm coil: thin liquid floods mesh coils. Use 70% VG with it.
  • Odd readings in Temperature Control: TC needs a compatible coil wire. If unsure, use Variable Wattage.

The 3200mAh battery lasts a long time. Charge with the included Type-C cable before it is empty and keep the mod away from heat. The puff counter on the screen is a handy way to judge when a coil is due for a change.

What is wrong?

Who the Zelos 3 suits

The Zelos 3 suits vapers who want room to grow: easy enough for a new user in Variable Wattage, with temperature control, bypass and power curves waiting for later. The big battery and protections make it a dependable daily kit.

It is heavy at 217g. For a lighter, simpler tank kit, see the Aspire PockeX. If you only want a mod to pair with your own tanks, the Eleaf iStick T80 covers 1 to 80W too.

Either way, Nautilus coils are cheap and easy to find, and they fit a long list of Aspire tanks.
