Both boxes say 30,000 puffs, but open them up and the Lost Mary Nera holds 24ml of liquid against the Hyola Ultra's 20ml. The Hyola is £3 cheaper; the Nera is 33g lighter. Here is what that means once they are in your pocket.
The short version
- Both are rated up to 30,000 puffs with an 800mAh battery and 20mg nic salt.
- Nera 30K: £12.99, 2 x 2ml pods plus 2 x 10ml containers (24ml), 86g.
- Hyola Ultra 30K: £9.99, 2 x 1ml pods plus 2 x 9ml containers (20ml), 119g.
- Judge big-puff kits on millilitres, not puffs. Puff counts are manufacturer ratings.
Same headline, different contents
Big-puff kits are rechargeable devices with a prefilled pod that tops itself up from a separate container. Both the Lost Mary Nera 30K Fullview and the Hyola Ultra 30K come with two pod and container sets, an 800mAh battery, USB-C charging and an inhale-activated mouth to lung draw.
The puff rating is identical, but the liquid is not. Lost Mary pack two 2ml pods and two 10ml containers, so 24ml in total. Hyola pack two 1ml pods and two 9ml containers, so 20ml. Puff counts are manufacturer estimates based on short, gentle puffs; the millilitres are what you actually vape.
Price per millilitre
Divide the price by the liquid and the gap narrows. The Nera works out at about 54p per ml and the Hyola at about 50p per ml, with the device included in both.
That is closer than the £3 sticker difference suggests. The Hyola still edges it on cost, but the Nera gives you 4ml more vaping before you need a refill pack, which for a moderate vaper is a day or two extra.
For comparison, a 10ml bottle of nic salt for a refillable pod kit costs from £2.99, around 30p per ml. That is the trade-off with big-puff kits: you pay a little more for liquid in exchange for never filling anything by hand.

Weight and feel
This is where the two kits feel most different. The Nera weighs 86g; the Hyola weighs 119g, which is 33g heavier, close to the weight of an extra AA battery and a half. The Nera's Fullview design also lets you see the liquid level.
Both use the same draw: a discreet, tight mouth to lung pull that feels close to a cigarette. Both are 20mg nic salt, which is the UK legal maximum. Nicotine is addictive, and 20mg is a strong strength, so if you are not used to it, take it steady.
Neither has adjustable airflow listed in our specs, so what you get on the first puff is what you get.
Lost Mary Nera 30K
The Nera 30K comes in 26 editions, from Blue and Berry to Drinks and Purple. Each edition pairs two flavours, one per pod and container set, so you get variety straight out of the box.
Once the liquid runs out you replace it with a Nera refill pack rather than binning the device. Find them under Lost Mary pods. The battery is designed to be recharged, and an 800mAh cell will see most people through a day.
If you like the idea but want to spend less, the Nera 15K Fullview is currently listed at £4.99 with a 15,000 puff rating.
Hyola Ultra 30K
The Hyola Ultra 30K also comes in 26 editions, from Berry and Blue Razz to Gummy and Lemonade. At £9.99 it is one of the cheapest 30K-rated kits we sell.
Hyola describe it as a bridge between single-use devices and refillable pod kits, and that is a fair way to think about it. You get the convenience of prefilled liquid with a rechargeable device you keep. Replacement packs live under Hyola pods.
The extra weight comes from a chunkier body. Some people like that solid feel; others prefer something that disappears in a pocket.
So which one?
Choose the Nera 30K if you want more liquid per box and a lighter device, and you do not mind paying £3 more. Choose the Hyola Ultra 30K if the lowest upfront price matters most and a heavier kit does not bother you.
If you are getting through a big-puff kit every few days, it is worth asking whether a refillable pod kit would suit you better. We break that down in our big-puff kits vs refillable pods comparison, including what it costs over a month.
Either way, recharge with a proper USB-C cable and do not leave the kit in a hot car.

Quick answers
Do the Nera 30K and Hyola Ultra 30K really last 30,000 puffs?
That is the manufacturer rating, based on short, light puffs. Real-world life depends on how long and how often you draw. The liquid volume (24ml vs 20ml) is a better guide.
Which has more liquid?
The Lost Mary Nera 30K, with 24ml across two 2ml pods and two 10ml containers. The Hyola Ultra 30K has 20ml.
Can I refill them with my own liquid?
No. They are designed for their own prefilled refill packs, which you buy separately once the liquid runs out.
What nicotine strength are they?
Both are 20mg nic salt, the UK legal maximum. Nicotine is addictive.
